On Wednesday, 9 July 2025, several of the student interns – Carla, Jessica, Katie, and Isaac – accompanied me to Kraemer Leather Gmbh to purchase leather for our first Introduction to Leatherwork Workshop on 11 July.
The ladies went because they’re interested in leatherwork and are helping me promote our workshops with the Haus Jaro’s residents. Isaac went for the same reason, and to help carry the leather back to Jaro.
I’ve been dealing with Peter since late 2011 or early 2012, when Birgit and I worked craft shows and markets throughout Austria. And have always found him to be a fair, personable man with whom it is a pleasure to do business.
As usual for him, Peter allowed me to handpick the leather, gave us very good prices, and clicked (cut) the keyfobs and other small shapes we needed for the workshop.
He also gave us a tour of his workshop and allowed us to watch as he clicked the shapes.
Peter even showed the students two keyfobs – an owl and a motorcycle – I had made for his late father in 2012. I must admit, I was surprised he had them. And that they were in pristine condition. Clearly, both he and his father valued them enough to keep them on display rather than use them.
Anyone reading this who is in the market for leather would do well to visit Peter’s shop on Laxenburger Straße 105 1100 Vienna. Be assured, he will treat you well and give you very good prices.
